Where Sri Lanka's Rainforest Can Take Root Anew
We protect a piece of rainforest with rare mother trees and create a nucleus for new forest growth. At the same time, a center for biodiversity education and research is being established.

Biodiversity and Ecological Resilience at Risk
The region on the edge of the Sinharaja Reserve suffers from erosion, habitat loss, and a lack of structures for sustainable reforestation. Schools, communities, and research institutions have little access to practical biodiversity education.

First Successes for Sri Lanka’s Future Forest
Production of up to 10,000 seedlings of native tree species
Planting of approx. 2,000 trees on degraded land
Development of hands-on environmental education programs
Partnerships, research, and hands-on work
We support the close collaboration of the Wildlife & Nature Protection Society (WNPS), the University of Colombo, and the Dickhena School to protect valuable mother trees, secure our own seed stock, and raise thousands of native seedlings. At the same time, a community-run information and learning center is being created to provide students, researchers, and villagers with practical knowledge on rainforest restoration. This way, we link ecological reforestation, local participation, and long-term resilience into a model project for Sri Lanka’s rainforests.

Our partners think and act holistically and do outstanding work on the ground.
